3 reasons why this mum loves gardening

A while ago I remember having a bit of a dig at a family member for scarifying their lawn. For those of you who have no idea what this is you are not alone, I too had no idea but thought it looked liked mowing the lawn without actually mowing it! I wondered what age/phase of life I would be when I started to even think about, let alone act upon, the state of my garden. Well 33 and a mum of three it is!
This year I have been weeding, planting, pruning and potting with glee. I think my new found love of gardening has a lot to do with not being in my early twenties anymore but also to do with the fact that:
1. Having small children in the house over the winter gets rather claustrophobic and then suddenly the sun comes out and the back doors are swung open and it feels like we gain another room to the house.
2. On days I find weeding the garden far more satisfying than tidying the house. The garden, unlike my house which can be turned upside down in a matter of minutes (when the girls decide to play a game which doesn't have a name but can only be described as getting nearly everything out of every toy draw/box while at the same time making a den using all the cushions and pillows in the house). Whereas the garden if you pull a weed out it takes about two weeks for another one to replace it!
3. This year I have not only been able to stop things from dying but some have even flowered!
