The perfect expedition
Jayne Nottage
Last week I decided to take my two youngest exploring in the local countryside to find a field of poppies I had seen in another picture. On the surface our first attempt was rather unsuccessful as it was a very hot day and I'd parked on one side of an orchard, which I later discovered was the wrong side. After walking for only 5 minutes my middle child had already started asking (on repeat) for a drink and suggested we sit down and have a snack. It was at this point I thought we may not make it 'all the way' to the poppies wherever they may be.
When catching site of the poppies in the distance I realised I had not packed enough pots of raisins, bread sticks or Pom Bears for the expedition to the poppies! Therefore we stopped under the shade of the orchards for a rest, a play, and of course a snack, before heading back to the car. Special memories.
The next morning we parked nice and close and after a short walk we got to see the poppies in all their glory.
