I don't know about how you go about booking your family holiday but I usually spend ages and ages looking for the perfect location at the perfect price and then get a tad disheartened at how expensive holidaying in the school holidays are and don't actually get round to booking anything. Then about two weeks before our holiday we book a last minute holiday, usually in Devon or the Isle of Wight and have an amazing time spending most of our days on the beach seeing how many ice-creams we can eat and sandcastles we can build in 10 days.
This year we decided to revisit our pre-kiddy days with the kiddys and have a mini Europe tour (also because we got the kids passports last year so feeling we need to make the most of them!)
I was rather nervous about the holiday as wasn't sure how child-friendly it would be but we had such a fun time and loved all the family firsts we had; tobogganing, catching a cable cart, family bike rides and no buggy (no buggy people!!)
We did have quite a few trips to beautiful cities that at first I thought the kids would struggle with as they didn't have a bucket and spade and mountains of sand but as long as we had a picnic, fed them ice-creams and always found the one park in eat city they seemed to love it.
